Featuring Top Entrecard Droppers
I have been using Entrecard for close to two weeks and I consider myself to be a pretty active user in terms of dropping cards and placing advertisements. The reciprocal traffic vs cards dropped is 151/450, so the promotion aspect is satisfactory for me.
More important than pure numbers, I do wonder if other bloggers really stop by my blog to read the content or just drop their cards and move on quickly. I made it a point myself to pause and read what other bloggers are writing about, drop a card and comment.
In this way, I may not rack up as many dropped cards in a day (max is 300 but I have not managed even half of that), but I am able to leave a deeper impression on the other blog owners.
Starting next Saturday, I want to provide a better user experience and thank Entrecard users who visited my blog. I will be featuring, on a weekly basis, the top three Entrecard sites who dropped their cards here. So guys and girls, go on and drop your cards here.
I am also considering starting a contest some time later, stay tuned.
-> Check out my first contest here. Winner: Sherry Rambling.
-> Here is my second contest.

I drop and run on most sites but each day I make a point to read 10 sites and leave a comment on them. So if I drop on 30 for the day, 10 will get a comment and I will read something from them.
I know it is not fair to the other 20 but I am at least working on getting some time on a few sites. (you happened to catch me because I was skimming the page and noticed what you wrote.)
I usually end up subscribing to about 2-3 of the 10 that I read and commented on….so now my feed reader is bursting.

And another comment so show that some do read posts when visiting via Entrecard drops!
There are a number of blogs where I’ll drop a card but the content is not something that totally interests me - but other blogs I have varying degrees of interest in and want to comment.

There are a lot of blogs that I return drops to that I have no interest in reading, but the ones that I feel that I can contribute a worthy comment to I will most definitely do. I have added a lot of new blogs to my reader and blogroll due to EC, so I’m happy with it.
Great post!

Because of time constraint, it is impossible for us to visit all blogs and comment on each on them.
The fact that read and comment on one third of the blogs which you dropped a card, rather than treating it like a mindless clicking affair, makes you one of the “better” Entrecard users, in my view.
And I am glad I am managed to “catch” your attention to invite a comment.
Anyway, hope you visit often and feel free to subscribe to my feeds if the content is useful to you.

It is very impossible to comment when you are dropping 150 plus card a day. What happened is that mostly people will drop and run on a site, but if a site has a eye catching graphics, content title or a frequently updated blog. Probably people will not only drop by but to read and some leave comment.

I pause from my drop and run and read when something catches my eye. I recommend you read my recent essay on the EntreCard Blog regarding this topic: Of Kudzu and the Organic Spread of EntreCard….it’s all about how EntreCard works, what it’s intended to do, and how to make it work for you. Just log into EntreCard, and click the blog button on the top nav bar, and then scroll down a few posts. It was published on June 10.
Cheers!

When you have been dropping a month, you will have a list of the sites that drop on a consistent basis under Statistics. These are the blogs on which I regularly comment.
On one of my blogs, I showcase the top droppers each month with a link back to their sites. On another, I have the inbox feed show latest 5-10 droppers.

I have my favorite blogs I read every day but I always drop a card on whoever drops on me. I will scan the new blog where I drop my card and if it is a subject I find interesting, I continue reading. I try to leave a comment too because everyone working on a blog wants to know their efforts are appreciated. I’m amazed how much fun I’m having expanding my knowledge and finding new blogs to read. Time consuming for sure but worth it.

I like to read what I’m dropping on, I tend to go and look at a blog which has dropped on me, but some of them - after looking at them - I don’t drop my card at all because I don’t like the content for one reason or another.

Hello.
what you wrote in your article is so true. I so much like people that use entrecard as you do. I do the same. I actually read blogs, and stop on things that catch my eye, or attract my atention. It is much much better, to be kind on entrecard, and care about others, i love telking, posting comments, and reviewing other peoples blogs on my blog. And i do it for free, well not for free, for the traffic i get back for doing so. You can get many visitors by being friendly and kind, and by accepting a friendship with a person from entrecard, or other system like entrecard. Congratulations for the post. And i hope to hear from you, and to make a nice friendship. I`ll get back on you

I do a combination of dropping from a list and from my inbox. Quite often my list contains many of the same blogs that are in my inbox. I’ve had some difficulty dropping from this account as FF keeps logging me out, but today it’s going smoothly so far. I also make a point of commenting on several blogs although I don’t have a specific number, just whatever articles catch my eye and that I have something worthwhile to leave. As you can see, I don’t like leaving one line comments
Good luck with your contest.

i do a combination of inbox and bookmarks droppings. i used to use powerdropping but its rare to get drop backs from that.
using the campaigns tab and dropping on the most popular blogs gets a lot of return drops.
as for dropping and running, i skim at least 70% of blogs I dropped on, and seriously read 40-50% out of the 70% those i find interesting and regularly updated.
i rarely drop and run unless im really pressed for time.

Glad to know this article has caught your eye and you leave a useful comment here.
Speaking of the contest, I am still thinking how to go about doing it.

@ Catherine -
Yup, drop and run makes Entrecard looks like those cookie cutter traffic exchange programs.
Commenting on about 400 blogs per month works out to more than 10 comments per day. Do you comment more on the weekends?
Jun 29th, 2008

I “drop and run” most of the time. But I always read if the card is near the top. If I have to hunt for the card I have “wasted” my time finding the card, so I don’t tend to read. Plus if the card is near the top I’m more likely to have my eye caught by the post (like what happened here ;))

You managed to read 90% of the sites you drop on, that is admirable. I can only do that on weekends when I have more free time. On most days, I manage about 150 cards per day, reading and commenting about 20% of them.
@ pinaywife -
I like inbox dropping too but I don’t bookmark EC blogs as my bookmark folder is already quite cluttered. I also cannot access them in public places.
As for powerdropping, I am not sure what it means, but it doesn’t seem to be a beneficial way to use Entrecard.
You are another valuable member of Entrecard if you seriously read about 40% of blogs you dropped by. I made an effort to browse titles and catch the gist in most blog posts too. If it is really interesting, I leave my two pence worth of comments.

As I become more familiar with Entrecard, I did hit the 300 limit on a couple of weekends.
I am glad to see you read posts while dropping and commenting as well. That makes you another valuable member of Entrecard.

If most of us neglect to read and comment on blogs, Entrecard will lose its value over time.
@ Theresa -
You drop 60 in 4 hours, it makes me wish my blog is among your 60 drops every day as I know you really spend time reading each blog.
There are others who powerdrop and achieve 300 credits in half that time. They use Entrecard purely for promotion and downgrade the quality of traffic.

Great to hear that there really are people reading some of the sites that they go to. I know that I only drop on sites that I actually read. I know that I won’t get nearly as many drops to my site that way… but I’m not interested in empty traffic anyway. I want people coming to my blog to read the articles that I have written. Yes, I am quite sure you are a valuable member of Entrecard. Reading and commenting on blogs if they offer something interesting is the least we can to do to show support.
By the way, you have not commented on my blog for a long time.

I was a newcomer too but I can assure you that if you read blogs and leave intelligent comments, other bloggers will reciprocate too.

I don’t really want to join lots of social networks because I don’t have much time to make meaningful contributions.
At the moment, Entrecard is taking up most of my productive time.

Thanks for your comment. Since you just signed up, I hope you find Entrecard a fun community.

I often do drop and run, but if the topics interesting, i will spend more time to read and give comment, bookmark them, especially they have relevant topics with me

Hi,
I won’t drop and run. I’ll drop, read and comment. This is my habit. That’s why I gained so many friends for my blog. Hope you’ll be one among them… (lol)

I tend to drop & run, but if the first few sentences can grab me, I’ll stay & read. I don’t comment as much as I should, either. But I’m working on it. Thanks for provoking my thought!

I quickly check out most sites. If they are of interest to me I stay longer.
If I read something I like I then often find an ad I am interested in to click as a way of saying thanks. I used to avoid clicking on ads like they were the plague, now I just see them as links to something I may be interested and a way of saying thanks.

I don’t always comment but I make a point to scroll down into every blog I drop a card in and see what the person is talking about or if they have any interesting pics. I don’t reply to many, but I do reply to a few. I wouldn’t take so much time posting if I didn’t think that SOMEONE was taking the time to enjoy my work
